Livin' in blue jeans? or Blue jean blues.

Hey does anyone know of any good jeans? I've been trying to find some and it's so frustrating. Apparently they only make two styles of jeans now: low-rise, and snug-fit low-rise. The other day I was wearing some old jeans to work in and I was swept up in a wave of nostalgia to a time when jeans fit well. I'm tempted to just sew up the knees of those and hold out till styles swing back. Any help would be appreciated.
